Meaning: adjunct of λέσχη (Hes. Op. 493 ἐπαλέα λέσχην), interpreted as `sunny'(?).

Origin: XX [etym. unknown]

Etymology: Connected with ἀλέα `heat of the sun'; or as `pressed together' (to ἁ̄λής). Chantraine rejects the latter interpretatiom, as ἁλής is said of persons or things, not of places, as ἐπ- is ununderstandable, and as also a reading ἐπ' makes no sense. Bechtel Lex. 129. Which does not mean that the other interpretation is correct.
